Writing Prompt: Private Investigator Short Story.

Female-Private-Investigators-Eliza-0614333632_1Crisis

Taken from my fabulous ”#642 Things to Write About” prompt book thought I’d write something a little different this morning.

Writing Prompt: You’re a private investigator, you’ve been following a cheating husband for a month. Write a report to your client-an emotionally unstable wife (in crisis) telling her what you did and what you’ve learned.

Slumped over my desk, I screw up my face at all the evidence I’ve gathered against Mr X. For a month I’ve been instructed by Mrs X to investigate her suspicions over her husband’s infidelity. The poor women, Mrs X has been married to Mr X for just 4 years and already their marriage is in crisis.I pull up my profile on the married couple:

Mrs X 35, a stay at home mum to two boys aged  five and two. A degree in psychology, she gave up her career in criminal psychology to start family life with Mr X.

Mr X is 36, a wealthy banker working in the heart of London’s financial district. He is a top investment banker for one of the UK’s biggest banks.

Late nights and early mornings have led Mrs X to suspect her beloved husband is cheating on her. She made contact with me on the  1st February 2016, a nervous voice on the other end of the phone explained how distraught she had been since Christmas 2015. He failed to make any real effort over the festive season, she also found a receipt for Victoria Secret’s lingerie  he bought on Christmas Eve-  lingerie that she never received.

Humm, I’ve got to get this report in today, I have so much evidence against this ass-hole but at the same time I don’t want to overwhelm Mrs X, she’s already very unstable emotionally. There have been times I spoken to her on the phone, before mid day and she’s slurred her words. She’s not going to like what I write, but better the truth be told, set the poor women free from this crisis.

I turn my attention to the thick file of evidence, photos, credit card transactions, emails that the bastard exchanged with a number of women. For the last month, his attention has been on  two women Sam and Jane. They both have one thing in common, tall, slim and blonde. It’s clear Mr X has a type – certainly not his wife’s short , curvy brunette physic.

I pick out  three day’s worth of evidence as a taster for Mrs X and draft a short report, if she wants more evidence I’ll supply the rest:

Dear Mrs X

Thank you for making contact with me on the 1st February 2016, following our phone call I set to work as instructed.Below I enclose for you a summary report of my findings over three  days. Please read and refer to the attached  evidence. I understand that this is a difficult time for you and the information gathered may cause further emotional distress, however I can confirm your suspicions over infidelity on the days you had question marks over his whereabouts.

5th February 2016:  Mr X arrived at his office in Liverpool Street central London at 6:00 a.m he did not leave his car, he sat and waited. Approximately 10 minutes later a black Ford Fiesta pulled up behind him, a tall slim blonde I’ll refer to as Ms A got out of the car and greeted Mr X. A kiss on the lips. The pair got into Mr X’s car and departed. I followed behind at a distance in my own car. They pulled up outside a quiet cafe   in Shoreditch  a short drive from the financial district in central London. The pair entered the cafe. I waited 5 minutes and followed them in. I can confirm between 6:30 a.m and 7:.30 a.m the pair had breakfast at the cafe, held hands and openly flirted their body language was not ” business like” if she is a co-worker.  Please see  photographic evidence sample A.At 7:35 a.m the pair depart the cafe, I followed them to a  closed in car park. Ms A parks in a corner facing parking space. I park a few spaces away, it appeared to me at the time the couple were intermate at this spot. Please see photographic evidence sample B.

8th February 2016: Following the information you gave to me via phone, that your husband was due to attend a work function until late the evening of the 8th February 2016 I can confirm after hacking into his personal email account, during the day of 7th February 2016 he exchanged a number of emails with Ms B. The two organised to have dinner at a Thai restaurant on King’s Road  south west London on the evening of the 8th February. Please see evidence sample C the emails exchanged between Mr X and Ms B. I made reservations at the same restaurant at the same time the couple  were due to dine, as I dined that evening, on my body camera I gathered further photographic evidence of the couple. Ms B is not the same women from my last sighting of Mr X with another women. Please see evidence sample D photographic evidence of Mr X dining with Ms B the evening of the 8th February 2016 at 19:00 hours  – 21:00 hours. The pair then went on the have drinks downstairs in the restaurant bar until 24:00 hours .

14th February 2016: Following your information you gave me that Mr X would be away on a work business trip the weekend of Valentine’s Day. Please see evidence sample E and F emails exchanged between Mr X and Ms A ( the lady from the first sighting of Mr X’s infidelity). As you can see the couple organised a romantic weekend away in Paris, the trip was instigated by Mr X and fully funded by him. To confirm this please see evidence sample G – his credit card statement confirming a booking for two tickets to travel via  Eurostar  direct from London King’s Cross to La Gare Paris. Evidence sample H further showing a booking for a hotel in Paris under Mr X’s name for a double room for the duration of the weekend.

I decide that’s enough evidence, I have more of course. Mr X was very active over the month of February I ping over the email, and evidence samples. I give it until Easter I bet my bottom dollar Mrs X files for a divorce and rapes him financially for every penny he has- good for her. I am meant to be objective in this line of work, but he clearly is a man with no heart. Half an hour later my phone rings, I know it’s her. I snatch up the receiver

” Kim’s private investigations, Kim speaking can how can I help you?”

” Kim, it’s… it’s me Mrs X I just got your report.”

I bite my lip, and brace myself for her emotional melt down. Mrs X’s voice is small and horse like she has already cried a million tears over the bombshell.

” How could he Kim?! How Could he!”

I take a deep breath, I’ve seen this a million times, heard it a million times a  distraught wife  in crisis calling me for some kind of explanation, after they receive my report. Like it’s not clear enough already that their husband is a cheating bastard.

” Mrs X, I am sorry for what the evidence shows I really am.”

“I’ll kill him!  KIM I’M GANNA KILL THAT CHEATING SON-OF – BITCH!”

Mrs X screams down the phone, I look up at the ceiling, this is going to be a long day…..

power of wordsThe Power of Words

I was studying in the library on campus and heard the sweetest voice coming from the next aisle.

It was a voice I could listen to for the rest of my life.  Her voice had substance and conviction.  I placed my pen down and looked around hoping no one would notice.  The words of wisdom that came from her instrument moved me like no other.  Her insight touched me in a way that changed my DNA and unreleased sperm forever.

Her laughter intrigued me to steal a peak.  Just a glimpse was all I needed to match the voice with the face. But what next?  From a distance I was drawn to a voice without a face…

Three Day Quote Challenge: Day #3

Sorry I missed yesterday, I got caught up. So today’s quotes are as follows and I believe I have completed my challenge I was nominated for….

quote 2

This quote means a lot to me, now I am not a religious person as I said on day #2 I’m  more spiritual than religious. But I really respect religion as a whole. This quote which is directly from the bible stuck with me when I discovered it ( and I was not reading a bible). It stuck with me  on a personal level and as a creative writer.

Firstly, as I do believe in the ”universe” and law of attraction- there is something  out there that guides and protects you, me and everyone. I don’t call it God or a person more like a force. Whatever it is that looks out for and guides us, you can do ” all this” whatever it maybe ( your goal or challenge) via that force strengthening us if that makes sense.

The second reason this quote is important to me is because I selected it to use as a direct quote from one character to another  in my novel which is published in September. I won’t say how and why it features , or why it was said (that would spoil it, read the book and look out for it!). It is very fitting for a particular scene I crafted/  conflict  I wrote for one of my main characters in one of my chapters.

36_ A Strong Woman Looks A Challenge Dead In The Eye And Gives It a ___ (1) - Copy

Well, what is there to say really? I think this one says it all! I can’t elaborate further …. I love this quote.

Three Day Quote Challenge: Day #2

25+ Stirring Muhammad Ali Quotes

I so  couldn’t decide what quotes to go with today for this challenge, I was torn between 4 of them, I ended up with these 2 in the end. Tomorrow I’ll battle between the other 2 for the final day of the challenge.

You have to believe in yourself! No one else may at first. This quote  from Muhammad Ali reminds me of this all the time. A great champion (with a big ego), he felt he was the best and went on to be so. I’m not saying we should all walk around with an ego the size of Big Ben  (London’s landmark clock tower)  …. but have belief you’ll be amazed what it can do for you.

NEW YEAR, NEW CHAPTER_ 20 Quotes About Life, Creativity and Travel ___

This is just the writer in me, who loves to write fictional stories using a lot of imagination to sometimes shock and grab a reader’s attention not everything I write is pretty and pink -especially in the crime genre, but it can be applied to life as well, why just go from A- B. Think outside the box? In doing so you may just become a more happier, successful, all round better person.

Today I nominate everyone who reads this to take part in the challenge.

Rules:

Thank the person who nominated you.

For the next 3 days post a meaningful quote.

Nominate at least 3 people each day.

MiracleChallenge week #6:#2 Poem-, Which Way is Heaven?

Cloud-Heaven

Write a poem using the below two prompt words: heaven and right

Short poem

Door 34 or door 64 which way should I head? I really need to use my head,

I look to the right this gives me a fright ,I see  stairs that go way up into the air,

I wonder what’s  up there?

I look to the left, I think this path is best left,

It doesn’t look like  a path that’s well kept,

Overgrown bushes, thorns and weeds, this is not the kind of path I need,

Which way to heaven???

Did  I miss it? Should I have taken a right, at gate  7 or what about  11?

A voice said Kim, this is it, use you female  initiation as  your map, please Kim try to avoid going back,

I have to go back, I’m looking for heaven   I think it was at gate number 7,

I don’t listen to the voice, in life we all have a choice! So I’m making mine I’m leaving this path behind,

I’m ganna head back  and take gate number  7, yes use my female intuition to help take me to heaven,

When I get to heaven, I  hope the gates will be open,

In my pocket I feel for it-  my token, the voice said it  will make the gates open,

Who will I see?

Standing on the right God, Amy Winehouse, Nelson Mandela, Prince, Micheal Jackson may be?

I’m turning back, using my female intuition  as my map, I’m making my way to gate number 7 I’m sure that’s heaven.

Three Day Quote Challenge: Day #1

quote 1

This quote really stayed with me the first time I saw it and heard it. I was experiencing a really tough time in life with decisions, this saying/quote/Scripture helped me keep going and not fear my future, I don’t fear it , I’m living it!… why because I am clothed in strength and dignity. And so should you feel you are whenever you are unsure of your future.

I’m not an overly religious person more spiritual that religious, but I really do respect all religions and that everyone (may)  have a different a god, or being they believe in to guide and protect them.

This biblical saying/quote/scripture  is one of #2 scriptures that I would like to have inked on me, and add to my (small) collection of discrete tattoos.   Tomorrow I will share #2.

Kim

Word Prompt Response: D.R.I.V.E

Drive      Write a response to today’s WordPress word writing prompt.

  1. ” To push, propel,  or press onward forceably ; urge forward.”
  2. ” To carry or urge along.”
  3. ” To repulse or put up a fight by force or influence.”

Just a few definitions I found in a dictionary for the word drive, I’ve learned a valuable lesson regarding this word. What drives one person or maybe 99% of the population eg the aim of achievement can demotivate another, on reflection I learned this in one particular relationship I had.

Sad but true, you as a person can be really motivated to achieve little goals you set yourself  as an individual and want to set little goals as a couple  sadly, your partner may see this as some kind of negative trait about you or your personality,  even go as far as believing that it’s  your drive that’s ruining  the  relationship…. How can a person feel that drive, motivation and caring about one’s path in life are bad traits or de- motivators for them personally? Is there such thing as being too ambitious?? … This is a rhetorical question, I gave up caring and trying to figure that one out a LONG time ago, right after I realised that this type of person will always be stuck in first gear in their life, so best to leave them to it.

I personally plan to stay driven! Not in a  competitive way but to have an idea of what it is I’d like to work towards, or what it is I do or do not need, get my ass into gear and do it. I’ve learned as a person I have more than first gear in me if need be.

Drive is important, drive should be what keeps us going when times are tough and life is not always on our side rather than just give up, and it’s certainly something that I want my son to understand in life; just how important drive is. In order to have drive and stay focused I’ve learned a good starting point is:

Determination- so you stay driven  to do whatever it is you set out to do and and get from A- B.

Resilience- so you can handle knock backs or possibly a  change of direction in your goals.

Intelligent ways of working- so that time does not slip away and you achieve nothing!

Vision- to know where you’re going and why you’re heading there. I’ve always believed that failing to plan is a sure plan to fail.

Experience- learning along the way helps shape what you do and how you continue to do it… if at all if the experience taught you not to do it!

I like this word, D.R.I.V.E.

Writing Prompt Response: Journey Poem

Journey

Write a response to today’s WordPress writing prompt word: Journey.

I feel in a light hearted and poetic mood today, I’ve responded to word prompts  this week and last with  short stories, to words like darkness, negative thoughts, and darkside I just had to put a positive spin on today’s word  and lift my blog mood 🙂

Life’s a journey one that we should enjoy,

Life’s a journey one that we shouldn’t try to avoid,

Life’s a journey, which sometimes  means starting  all over from the beginning,

Life’s a journey one that we may not always keep winning,

But  it’s  in the beginning, and maybe when we ‘re not in the process of winning,

One can become a whole new and better human being!

Life then takes on a whole new meaning, when you evolve and realise you’re now a better human being, it is at this point you are winning!

Life will put you in some sticky situations, but it will always reward you with  a cause for celebrations.

Life, is  a journey, LIVE  it, LOVE it, don’t regret it!

Just be patient and take your time , make your own decisions using your own ”3rd ”eye every

Opportunity is one that should not be missed, when you come up against a brick wall and you feel like you’ve  lost it all, open your third ”eye” and see what else there is to be thankful for.

Under no circumstances be anyone’s fool, love everyone but  only trust a few.

Recognise when you’re being taught something  new to further and better you.

Never think you can not, you can just make sure that you have a solid plan, and then I promise you, you can.

Every day is a blessing, you’ve  woken  up and  can take a new breath, so this means your journey can and will  continue.

Years will pass you by, always keep reaching for the sky, your journey will never be straight forward People come, people go, love is here and then it is not but if you’ve paid attention as I’ve mentioned your journey will become better.  Always keep looking forward.

Word Prompt Response: Short Story

Cowardice

Scardy cat

Write a response to today’s WordPress writing prompt: Cowardice

Scaredy -Cat: Short  Sweet Story

Every morning Dina and Joanne walked past the old run down  house that belongs to Mrs Drew her husband had died a year ago and  rumours around Mrs Drew’s sanity started to fly around the small town. Everyone knew everyone and each other’s business rumours spread fast.

The house was sat set back from the main road, on its own with a creaky gate and large oak tree in the yard. Joanne at 10 years old thought she was the brave responsible one, she’d always pull her 6 year old mischievous  little sister Dina away from the gates, as she  tried to peer over into the garden of the old run down house on her tip toes.

” Come on Dina! What are you doing ? We’ll be late for school.”

” Don’t you want to see her, to know what old hag lady looks like now?”

” No way, leave her be she’s an old women grieving mama said now come on.’‘ Joanne  pulled her sister away from the gates by the scruff of her neck; her flimsy school  dress threatened to rip from her grip. Mama would be mad so she let go and grabbed Dina’s hand instead.

” I wanna see! I wanna see old hag lady at the window everyone says she’s scary and eats children for lunch.”

”I don’t believe that humans don’t eat each other it’s just rumours and people being nasty towards the old women, now come on.”

Joanne gave Dina’s hand a sharp tug. The pair walked off and left the old run down house  behind them. Skipping along ahead of her sister Dina  looked back at the house and became excited.

” I dare you Joanne, to go up to the house and knock on the door after school today!”

” No way! Why would I do that and disturb her, mama said she is grieving whatever that means but I guess it means don’t disturb an adult.”

” To prove you don’t believe the rumours you got to do it!”

”What do you mean?”

”Well if you don’t believe that she’s  a real witch  and that humans really eat each other then you’ll go right up to that house and knock on the door.”

” Yeah right Dina, and then do what when old hag lady opens up?”

”Ask her if she wants to buy some cookies.”

Dina fell in step with her older sister and grabbed her hand. Joanna looked down at her little sister, so fierce so bold and full of life at 6 years old. Her piercing blue eyes the colour of the ocean and fair blond hair in pig tails made her smile.

”No Dina, don’t be silly  it is not nice to believe rumours like I said she’s an old lady and that’s not how you prove that you’re not scared of something.”

”Scaredy-cat Scaredy-cat!”

” No I’m not!”

” Yes you are!”

” No I’m not!

” Prove it then…”

Dina let go of her older sister’s hand and skipped along the path ahead her pig tails bobbing behind her singing to herself.

” Humm I’ll show you whose a scaredy- cat” Joanne said to herself quietly.

After school the 2 girls walked along their familiar path on their way home, the sun beat down on them as the stood outside ”old hag lady’s” gate. Joanne peeked over and saw un –kept grass, rubbish and old furniture in the yard.

” Go on then.”

” Alright, alright hold on”

Joanne had a plan she opened the gate and walked up the path. As Joanne disappeared up the path she ducked into the un-kept bushes and opened the side gate leading back out on to the main road, she walked around the fence back towards Dina. Once at the corner she peeked around and saw her little sister tip toeing over the gate and heard her calling her name.

” Joanne, Joanne! Hurry I can’t see you, oh no what’s happened hag lady got her!”

Joanne crept around the corner behind her little sister as soon as she was close enough she swept Dina up in her arms.

” Mmmwaaah ha ha hag lady has come to get you, I want to eat you up!”

”No, no put me down!!”

Reduced to tears Dina screamed at the top of her lungs before she realised it was her sister.

” Now whose the scaredy -cat Dina!?”

” That’s not funny! That’s not nice! YOU SCARED ME”

” Neither is believing rumours that people in this town make up about others that’s not NICE or FUNNY. It could come back and bite you on the you know what as mama would say!”

”Told you I’m no scaredy -cat Dina”

Joanne skipped off happy with herself, Dina dried her tears and promised never to call her sister a scaredy-cat again she didn’t like being bitten on the you know what, that was no fun  her older sister’s jokes were scary not fun.
