Three Day Quote Challenge: Day #3

Sorry I missed yesterday, I got caught up. So today’s quotes are as follows and I believe I have completed my challenge I was nominated for….

quote 2

This quote means a lot to me, now I am not a religious person as I said on day #2 I’m  more spiritual than religious. But I really respect religion as a whole. This quote which is directly from the bible stuck with me when I discovered it ( and I was not reading a bible). It stuck with me  on a personal level and as a creative writer.

Firstly, as I do believe in the ”universe” and law of attraction- there is something  out there that guides and protects you, me and everyone. I don’t call it God or a person more like a force. Whatever it is that looks out for and guides us, you can do ” all this” whatever it maybe ( your goal or challenge) via that force strengthening us if that makes sense.

The second reason this quote is important to me is because I selected it to use as a direct quote from one character to another  in my novel which is published in September. I won’t say how and why it features , or why it was said (that would spoil it, read the book and look out for it!). It is very fitting for a particular scene I crafted/  conflict  I wrote for one of my main characters in one of my chapters.

36_ A Strong Woman Looks A Challenge Dead In The Eye And Gives It a ___ (1) - Copy

Well,what is there to say really? I think this one says it all! I can’t elaborate further …. I love this quote.

THE LIEBSTER AWARD

Thank you E Denise Billups for nominating me, my 2nd one! Here are the answers to your questions

To Kill A Mockingbird

I’ve read so many of the classics as a child. They’ve all had some impact on me. But I would have to say Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eyes stands out vividly. I read her novel when I was eleven-years-old. I remember the emotions I felt for the character and her personal struggles as a young black child growing up in a racist society. It’s been a while since I’ve read this book and I may have to revisit…

Three Day Quote Challenge: Day #2

25+ Stirring Muhammad Ali Quotes

I so  couldn’t decide what quotes to go with today for this challenge, I was torn between 4 of them, I ended up with these 2 in the end. Tomorrow I’ll battle between the other 2 for the final day of the challenge.

You have to believe in yourself! No one else may at first. This quote  from Muhammad Ali reminds me of this all the time. A great champion (with a big ego), he felt he was the best and went on to be so. I’m not saying we should all walk around with an ego the size of Big Ben  (London’s landmark clock tower)  …. but have belief you’ll be amazed what it can do for you.

NEW YEAR, NEW CHAPTER_ 20 Quotes About Life, Creativity and Travel ___

This is just the writer in me, who loves to write fictional stories using a lot of imagination to sometimes shock and grab a reader’s attention not everything I write is pretty and pink -especially in the crime genre, but it can be applied to life as well, why just go from A- B. Think outside the box? In doing so you may just become a more happier, successful, all round better person.

Today I nominate everyone who reads this to take part in the challenge.

Rules:

Thank the person who nominated you.

For the next 3 days post a meaningful quote.

Nominate at least 3 people each day.

Three Day Quote Challenge: Day #1

quote 1

This quote really stayed with me the first time I saw it and heard it. I was experiencing a really tough time in life with decisions, this saying/quote/Scripture helped me keep going and not fear my future, I don’t fear it , I’m living it!… why because I am clothed in strength and dignity. And so should you feel you are whenever you are unsure of your future.

I’m not an overly religious person more spiritual that religious, but I really do respect all religions and that everyone (may)  have a different a god, or being they believe in to guide and protect them.

This biblical saying/quote/scripture  is one of #2 scriptures that I would like to have inked on me, and add to my (small) collection of discrete tattoos.   Tomorrow I will share #2.

Writing Prompt Response: Journey Poem

Journey

Write a response to today’s WordPress writing prompt word: Journey.

I feel in a light hearted and poetic mood today, I’ve responded to word prompts  this week and last with  short stories, to words like darkness, negative thoughts, and darkside I just had to put a positive spin on today’s word  and lift my blog mood 🙂

Life’s a journey one that we should enjoy,

Life’s a journey one that we shouldn’t try to avoid,

Life’s a journey, which sometimes  means starting  all over from the beginning,

Life’s a journey one that we may not always keep winning,

But  it’s  in the beginning, and maybe when we ‘re not in the process of winning,

One can become a whole new and better human being!

Life then takes on a whole new meaning, when you evolve and realise you’re now a better human being, it is at this point you are winning!

Life will put you in some sticky situations, but it will always reward you with  a cause for celebrations.

Life, is  a journey, LIVE  it, LOVE it, don’t regret it!

Just be patient and take your time , make your own decisions using your own ”3rd ”eye every

Opportunity is one that should not be missed, when you come up against a brick wall and you feel like you’ve  lost it all, open your third ”eye” and see what else there is to be thankful for.

Under no circumstances be anyone’s fool, love everyone but  only trust a few.

Recognise when you’re being taught something  new to further and better you.

Never think you can not, you can just make sure that you have a solid plan, and then I promise you, you can.

Every day is a blessing, you’ve  woken  up and  can take a new breath, so this means your journey can and will  continue.

Years will pass you by, always keep reaching for the sky, your journey will never be straight forward People come, people go, love is here and then it is not but if you’ve paid attention as I’ve mentioned your journey will become better.  Always keep looking forward.

Reflection #4: Ideas and Nerves!

WP_20160709_001

Today’s reflection was originally wrote on  the back of an envelope of a card I received this week, while sat  on the top deck of the #12 bus from Trafalgar Square (central London) heading home. You can see the original on the right hand side above, my scribbles are hardly readable even to myself, as the bus ride was not the smoothest! Anyway, I thought I’d blog the reflection this evening.To the left the other blue envelope is a response to a writing prompt (from the book I picked up today which you can also see in the picture).  I got creative and responded to a prompt on my journey home on the bus.

Dear ”Diary”,

I feel a real mixture of emotions today don’t get me wrong it has been a good day, I went to book club to meet up with my fellow book worm buddy’s to discus the books read over the last month ( sadly  I never got to finish reading this month’s books due to working on my own manuscript I finally submitted 33 days early!). Anyway, I had those giddy feelings as I walked into Waterstones again ( the UK’s largest/major book store chain) knowing that in just 2 months I’d have my very own book in a store/ published. It was a quiet afternoon at Waterstones in central London today, not much of a crowd in -store. Maybe as the weather in London today  was nice this morning.

While looking around Paperchase for a birthday card  mum, I treated myself to a book ” 642 thinks to write about” a thick book with writing prompts in. I’m super excited! I think I need to slow down with how many of these books I buy, I already have one with 365 prompts.

Today, I also received some very positive feedback from a good friend of mine who read my sample chapters, the one thing I’m paranoid about in my writing ( typos) she spotted! But that happens when you’re up writing at 3am; according to her apparently it did not spoil my story or take way anything from it. She said ( about the chapters she read) ” it’s a good introduction”, ” I was gripped right from the beginning ” and ” I would like to read more” now if you know my friend I’ll call her Ms X she’s a hardcore critic when it comes to writing! Probably as she’s a writer herself and is writing her own book which I can’t wait to read. To hear this feedback from Ms X really helped to boost my confidence and reduce a little bit of my nerves around my first novel she ” liked Kate and could identify with her” ( my heroine) and she ” hated Danny” ( one of the heros) which is exactly how I want readers to feel while reading, I intended for my characters to come across like this.

I gave myself a pat on the back after hearing this, I did kick myself for the minor typos and said ” Oh no I’ll go back and edit some more” the girls at book club looked at me like I’d grown a 2nd head or something all shouted ” NO” ” leave it so readers can see the progress” ” it’s with your editor now spotting typos is their job”. As tempting as it is to go back I won’t I’ll focus on the next idea I’m creating instead.

*Kim looks out the window* London can be so pretty I’m just going over Westminster Bridge( a land mark I used in my book) it’s packed with tourists with selfie sticks trying to take a snap with Big Ben in the background, tour groups walking along . ( Here I ran out of envelope to write on :D)

In a nutshell, today on reflection from hearing some positive feedback I’m a LITTLE less nervous about unleashing my work to the world to read, I have to get used to it it’s too late now it’s with the publisher no going back or changing anything major at this point. I am also feeling extremely creative there are some excite writing prompts in my book, I can’t wait to get stuck in and practice improving my skills.

Darkness & My Disappointment: Daily Writing Prompt

Darkness

hands up

My response to today’s WordPress word prompt is based on what’s going on, what I heard about and read in the news today  miles away from me.

I feel disappointed again today, I feel like there is sadness all around me again today;

I turned on the news today, I heard it again today, one man down again today;

I’m a million miles away from where all this takes place but  this does not make it OK;

I still care, I still grieve, I still fume and I still rage;

 Mad with the system; mad with the ignorance; mad with the stereotypes  that surround  His  darkness;

I feel like the rap group NWA today ,”f*ck the police” was the message they once had to say;

Why  and how could they say that you ask?  We are ”the land of the free” we are here to ” serve and protect thee”;

 Hummm mate,  I really don’t think so, you don’t get it do you? You don’t care;

You’ve shown me and the world you don’t care with your guns and violence against the darkness, his darkness;

Your statistics tell me and show me you don’t care even though I am all the way across the Atlantic over here;

In your land He is  treated like prey all because of his darkness, the beautiful darkness of his skin;

My son,  as he grows from a boy into a man would he be safe all the way over there?

Could  and should I allow him to go there, trust that he can roam freely and safely  there?

To you  his  darkness and He will  always be public enemy number 1;

Don’t deny it you’re too quick to raise your gun! Shoot now think and ask questions later;

He and his darkness  are nothing to fear; but this is something you’re clearly not trying to hear;

To me  all this sounds like no fun,  just think before you pick up that GUN!;
