Hello nice to meet you! Tell us a bit about you where are you from and other than writing what else do you enjoy?

I am from Alberta, Canada where the summers are short and the winters are long. I love to spend time with my family, camping, bonfires, reading and cuddling with my valley bulldog, Maddy.

How did you start writing? What was your inspiration to create?

I’ve been writing since I was a little girl and to be honest I cannot remember a time when I was not writing. I’ve always turned to words when I cannot express myself, to send a message, and I am inspired by something or someone.

My desire to create stories has always been a part of who I was. I’ve always wanted to tell tales that will evoke thought into my readers. Whether I’m writing about hatred, greed, lust, forgiveness, trust and love I want my readers to see the problems my characters face and empathise with them.

Who is your favourite author, is there anyone out there that inspires you?

I have a lot of favourite authors. I’d have to say every single one of them inspires me. Anne Rice inspires me to push myself harder. Stephen King inspires me to be better. Nora Roberts inspires me to try something new. Jeannette Oke inspires me to remember my roots and know it will all work out.

Kim: Nora is great! Heard a lot about Anne Rice I’m yet to read any of her work.

What genre do you enjoy reading?

I read almost everything except science fiction.

So you’ve published a series, what is the series about?

The Branded Trilogy was definitely a labour of love, and well hate. When I set out to write Lakota Honor (book 1) I had no intentions of creating a trilogy and in fact wrote it as a stand-alone novel. However, readers wanted to know where Nora had gotten her talents from and so I decided to delve into the history of what Nora actually was and how she’d obtained certain powers. Thus brings Blood Curse (book 2) it is placed 200 years before Nora’s story and tells how it all began. Sacred Legacy (book 3) is a continuation of some of the characters from book 2. I love this series. I love the characters; each one having their own mountains to climb I created them to be real in my mind and my readers. I wanted to show that love does conquer all even in the midst of harrowing events.

Kim: Good job! Readers wanted more great to hear.

What was it like creating back to back stories that link?

It was fun! The best part about Sacred Legacy (book 3) is that I already knew what some of the plot was because I had set it up in Blood Curse (book 2)

What has been your most proud moment as an author?

I have proud moments all of the time…but I have to say each time I get a personal email telling me how much someone loved one of my books is the most rewarding. I am honoured to write for my readers they are the best.

Was there ever a time you wanted to pick up your laptop, and then launch it out the window with frustration?

Oh gosh! Everyday! I have so many stories in my head at one time and when the one I am working on doesn’t want to co-operate I get frustrated.

Kim: haha! ‘co-operate’ … humm I must say  when I’m writing I do have moments  in my head of ‘frustration’ = “Bitch.. imma tame you (my story/plot/character) into submission, now c’mon work with me!!”

Are you a “plotter” or a fly by the seat of your pants “pantster” as a writer?

I am both. Sometimes I need to plot out everything in the book and sometimes the ideas are right in my head and I write them down and go!

Am I the only one who gets hung up on commas? Do they make you go blah! when you’re writing?

UGH! I hate commas. Ask my editor. They make me want to drink more whiskey.

What three tips would you give any aspiring writer?

Never give up.

Learn from other writers.
