Opportunity knocks when the European company she works for as a successful estate agent, selling properties to elite clientele expand. Giving her the chance to take a one month work sabbatical, in the beautiful vibrant Caribbean island Puerto Rico. She snaps up the chance to leave Europe behind. Here her path crosses with thirty-five year old Puerto Rican born Mateo Sanchez. A former ‘bad boy’ turned entrepreneur. They touch each other on a physical and soul level, the two become connected. Thing is, while the passion, heat and romance builds between the two, the pair’s love affair becomes caught up in a web of lies, deceit, and betrayal from the past.

Mateo and Gabby fight hard for their blossoming relationship, and against the drama that keeps following them. But there are decisions and sacrifices to make if they are really going to make it work. There’s nothing that Mateo won’t do to show his growing admiration for Gabby, even when the police get involved and he’s in the hot seat. His hand is forced he’s pushed to make moves he promised he would never do again, due to past events and to move forward with Gabby. Gabby is faced with the decision over what sacrifices she’ll make, and where she really sees her future. Back in Spain, London or 4,000 miles away in Puerto Rico. Romance, soul mate connection, heat, lies, betrayal and brushes with the law await readers in this exciting multicultural ‘second chance’ romance.

90 Days of Writing: What Drew You to The Genre You Write? #90DaysBlogChallenge

Really cool question for day #3 of the #90DayBlogChallenge. There’s really only two authors and books to answer this question! I became a writer in the genre I cover (romantic suspense, crime, thriller, mysteries) from being a big reader. And I mean BIG reader.

This is the exact cover and copy that I have, I read it years ago! I just stumbled upon her books in a charity shop. This was the first ever romantic suspense that I read, and boy was it a good read! So good I went on to read every book she ever wrote before she passed. I always have to pay homage to Jackie Collins for her influence on why I gravitated naturally towards romantic suspense from this one book I read. While we have very different styles of writing, Jackie is naturally I feel a very talented and good story teller. From what I remember there were so many plot twists in this book! Also in her Lucky Santangelo series of books. It’s also cool that Jackie was a British author, even though she lived in the USA

When it comes to crime/thriller/mystery/suspense I must say one of the biggest influences came from reading Faceless by Martina Cole. Another British author I love. While our styles again are very different this book was a page-turner to read. Another one I picked up in a charity shop years back! This cover has changed so many times, but this is the original I have.

Generally, I am really drawn to romance as I just love the gene to read. Suspense as the sub-genre as I like a story that moves, has twists, and things to keep me interested. I like to write stories like this too for readers. Mystery, thriller, suspense, and crime again as a massive lover of it to read, I think I naturally gravitate here because I love to read it. That said, within both these genres I like to create stories with more diversity, location based in different parts of the world, and stories I would love to read!

If you’re a fiction writer what drew you to the genre you write? Let me know, blog it, join in the challenge link your blog below. Or just leave a comment.

.99 Cent Pre-sale Alert Until August Only + My 1st Experience of Writing Historical Fiction #amreading

That’s right guys just .99 cent on Amazon from today until August! After August the e-book version of my new release will shoot up to $4.99, grab it while it’s hot! I loved penning this romantic suspense with a historical twist! I’ve never written a historical romance novel, only a short story, but I love to read this genre so badly it’s unreal LOL.

What I Loved About This Genre

What I love about it is being transported, from the present day to the relevant era the story is set in. I also love the learning experience, especially if the story is set in a part of the world I know little about. I’ve read some fantastic…no scratch that ahhhhhh-maaay-ziing historical fiction set in Asia. The four books that come to mind all made me cry. Two male authors and one female. I then bought all the books by all the authors. There’s just something about this genre that really does something to me, emotionally as a reader. I get caught up, in love with the time frame and salute historical fiction writers, who write this as their standard ‘bread and butter’ and not just dip in, like me.

My First Experience of Writing Historical Fiction..

As a writer I must say yes I did tear up too, especially when I wrote the scene where I placed my characters at Dr. Martin Luther King’s march for jobs and freedom, in Washington DC, in the 1960s. I also teared up while writing the difficult scenes, as a white male and his views on the friendship and then relationship between my hero and heroine. On the other hand writing as a black male, who also hated this union was tough! Overall, this novel is special to me as 1. I had to write characters and their ‘style’ of love and dating, in a period I was not even born in LOL. 2. I had to step into the shoes of people with a different mind set to me, as a woman and in an era I was not born 3. you know me I like to take readers on a journey around the world! So there was the challenge of writing in London, USA and Greece!! In the present day and the 1950s and 1960s! Overall Sacrifices was a beautiful challenge that pulled on my heart strings at times. I am so in love with the story, as I love the music of this era, the civil right movement on both sides of the Atlantic is close to my heart, I love the characters and how I have brought them alive, and a new spin and voice to this sub-genre of romance. The 1950s and 1960s are not historical eras really used often in romance. Enough editors and publishers who rejected me told me that LOL but you only need one to say ‘gimme that’, and I am so grateful for the publishing house who jumped on my shit!

So check it out and grab a copy for just .99 cents before this baby shoots up to full price. It will be in paperback, e-book and audio too. Release date 30th September 2020.
